Interested in a Custom LTL Piece?

Here are some FAQ’s and guidelines for the Low Tide Landing custom commission process.

Do you take custom requests?

  • I take on custom work in batches throughout the year so I can balance custom requests with new collections. Feel free to ask if customs are currently open.

I found an amazing piece of sea glass! Can you make me something with it?

  • I would LOVE to work with you to preserve that beautiful moment and memory in a piece of jewelry. Sea glass for jewelry works best when it has a flat bottom (so that it doesn’t wiggle and rock in the setting) and smooth edges. I always encourage my clients to send me a photo with the glass and an object to show size—a ruler or coin work great.

I had my eye on a piece that already sold. Can you make me one just like it?

  • I’m more than happy to recreate previous LTL designs. Please be aware that as each piece is entirely handmade (and often includes hand-drawn elements), custom work will differ slightly from the original piece.

I saw something online that I really love. Can you recreate it?

  • I will not recreate pieces based on other artists’ work. If you love it, ask that artist to make you your very own.

What else do I need to get started?

  • If you’re requesting a ring, please have an accurate ring size ready. The BEST way to do this is to visit any jewelry shop and ask them to size you, which they’ll happily do for free.

  • If that’s not an option, you can wrap a piece of dental floss around your finger (not too tight; not too loose) and record that measurement in millimeters—I can take it from there.

  • Please note that inaccurate sizing may result in a ring that doesn’t fit, and I don’t accept returns on custom work. If you’re unsure, send me a message!

How much will my custom cost?

  • Cost will depend on the nature of the piece; if you’re requesting a remake of a previous design, it will likely be a similar price. (Sometimes the cost of silver/stones/supplies fluctuates which can affect price).

  • I can give you a quote/estimate on the final price up front; any changes made along the way may shift the price.

Okay, I’m in. How do I make it official?

  • You will need to purchase a $50 custom deposit before work begins on your piece. This ensures that my design time is compensated, and officially secures your spot in my customs queue. (This is standard industry practice—many jewelers require up to half of the end price up front.)

  • When you purchase the custom deposit, you’ll be prompted to fill out some information. Please include ANY and ALL pertinent information (ring size, colors, reference to a previous design, any prior conversations we may have had over Instagram, etc.) Having all the info in one place makes my job much easier!

  • Once the piece is complete, the remaining balance will be sent to you via a custom listing.

I’m so excited! When can I expect my piece?

  • Depending on my current customs queue and the nature of the commission, my turnaround is typically between 2-4 weeks.

  • I ship through USPS and will provide a tracking number for your convenience.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to email me! I look forward to working with you on your custom order.
